Hawkwind Blows… Into Town
Hawkwind performs tonight at Club Europa ( more info here)
While Bad Brains are performing on a boat, the truly amazing news is that Hawkwind is indeed playing tonight in Greenpoint at Club Europa. I’m certain that I don’t need to explain to this site’s readers much about the originators and supreme purveyors of space rock. But I would however like to look into exactly who’s will be in the lineup tonight.
Though I once had the good fortune to see saxophonist/flutist Nik Tuner’s 1990s version of the band (featuring Helios Creed!), Turner has since lost a court case, and thus, the name, to the band’s only constant member since 1969, guitarist/synthesizer wizard Dave Brock. So I imagine tonight you’ll see Brock’s Hawkwind with the 1980s rhythm section of bassist Alan Davey (apparently Lemmy did join the band for one date earlier this year) and drummer Richard Chadwick, 1990s vocalist Ron Tree (Arthur Brown actually nabbed his spot for a spell when he went to bass), and recent keyboardist Jerry Richards.
So there you go. Either way I’m certain that you know exactly what to expect and that’s precisely why you’ll be there.
