Also a guitarist known for his work with the Jewish, Low Down Dirty Dawgs, Bad WIzard and many more, GAMEFACE know’s how to bring it!
Thurs, Apr 17, Shakin’ All Over Under Sideways Down!, Beauty Bar (231 E. 14th, East Village, Manhattan), 11pm, FREE: This partee’ is a collaboration between the NYNT’s Soul Proprietor Mr. Jonathan Toubin and musical encyclopedia on wheels and rock machine, the indomitable Ms. Melissa Fanni Tutti - turning dance music platters centered smack dab in the center of popular music’s greatest and most diverse decade. Making a go at channeling the variety inherent in the playlists of the discotheques and radio of the era plus much of the stuff that was too underground at the time to get there, we attempt to cover soul, garage, freakbeat, boogaloo, AM radio pop, British Invasion, electric blues, girl groups, bubblegum, frat rock, late r&b, early funk, early psychedelics, discotheque schmaltz, boogaloos, tropicalia, yé-yé, latin delights, etc.
Friday, Apr 18, Ants In Yr Pants Dance Party,Southside Speakeasy (245 S 1st St, Williamsburg), 11pm Free: Moses Archuletta of Deerhunter, who’s in NYC recording a new album, will be joining Mr. Jonathan Toubin for his weekly mobile dance party. Claudia from Baby Shakes bartends! Noto nly a nice escape from the weekenders, but spectacular all the way around!

Saturday, Apr 19: New York Night Train’s Spring Shakedown, Live With Animals (210 Kent at Metropolitan, Williamsburg), 10pm: The weather’s turning and NYNT’s givin’ you more fun than you can have without getting caught in a Mexican earthquake - brace yourself - a dance party featuring the rumble of the twin 45 rpm DJ towers of the garage/punk/soul underground Mr. Josh Styles of Smashed Blocked and Mr Jonathan Toubin of NYNT (spinning soul, glam, garage, freakbeat, boogaloo, organ jams, punk, and other wild and raw 1960s and 1970s get-downs) - a live show by the NYC mod/glam/punk scene’s party band numero uno Stalkers (for those of you who weren’t lucky enough to witness their power in texas - the new line-up and songs since they left the studio are crazy out-of-control awesome - elevating the fearsome fivesome to the very top of the local r’n'r heap) and the new punk band on the block Ex-Humans, led by handsome Josh of the Carbonas - a performance by the extraordinary Hula-Hoop Harlot Melissa-Anne (going for the Guinness Book of World Records - for real!), and an exhibit featuring works by a diverse group of amazing visual artists associated with the rock scene, Angela Wieland, Avi Spivak, Danny Goldstein, Jackie Roman, Jackie Sugarlump, Josh Styles, and Veronica Ibarra. Wild summer action in spring. Please take note - while originally scheduled at the Shangri La, this fiesta is now at NYNT’s favorite art space, the super-fun LIVE WITH ANIMALS.
Saturday, Apr 19: New York Night Train’s Loose Caboose, Rehab (ex-Club Midway, 25 Avenue B, East Village, Manhattan), 10pm, FREE:The night train’s gonna chugga chugga chugga to the city Saturday night. Come find the rockin’ caboose of the week of NYNT parties upstairs every week from here on out either with the Soul Proprietor or one of his hand-picked favorites continuing NYNT’s time-honored Midway freak show tradition! This week’s guest is noneother than the lovely and talented Jason Russo of Hopewell. Mercury Rev’s former bassist is not only a sexy MF but tasteful to boot - and ready to get u down!
