TONIGHT, Weds, Apr 23 PASS OUT RECORDS’ PEEWEE and CHRIS TEENAGER join NYNT soul proprietor Jonathan Toubin behind the booth at Motor City for week 6 in NYNT’s STORE WARS series - in which a representative from a different local record store will spin for Motor City’s lucky patrons. Passout is Brooklyn’s punk store and, while Chris and PeeWee are certain to bring variety, expect it all to be rough and ready!
Thurs, Apr 24: Shakin’ All Over Under Sideways Down is taking a week off as we’ve given a home to a goth/industrial party that lost its venue in the last moment. If that’s you’re bag, be there - the boys have spent a lot of time preparing and it should be really good. For the rest of you, we will be back in the back of Beauty Bar next week. Also, dearest NightTrainers, this is as fine a party weekend as ever with plenty of fine dancing opportunities with the DJ artistry of Mr. Jonathan Toubin and his over-qualified cast of talented collaborators…

Saturday, Apr 26: Animal Train 8: Prehistoric Party, Glasslands Gallery (289 Kent at Metropolitan, Williamsburg), 10pm, $7: The kind folks at Animal Train Happening would like to take you back, way back… to a time only documented in our finest cinematic and literary traditions - when both humans and dinosaurs inhabited the earth side by side. When early man lived in caves, and hunted the fire-breathing tyrannosaurus, and had entire cave condos destroyed by the wicked fury of the skyscraper-sized brontosaurus… and men and women wandered the earth dressed only in the skimpiest of animals skins - dragging one another around by the hair and throwing boulders at one another. THIS IS HOW IT WAS! Not only will the folks at Live With Animals re-create these monsters but also an accurate (pre)historically-correct landscape complete with rocks and erupting volcanoes. The projectionists from the Mighty Robot AV Squad conjure moving images to step the realism of the experience up a notch - like in the movies! Go go dancers the Marmaladies, fresh out of numerous discussions with paleontologists and both physical and cultural anthropologists, as well as training sessions at Julliard, will show you the actual dances of the cave people. Performance artist Micki Pellerano is certain to provide patrons with a glimpse into the nude depravity of our earliest ancestors. Bands Pterodactyl and When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth, both frozen in a Siberian cave for ten-thousand years, have been thawed to rock you like a stegosaurus while New York Night Train’s Mr. Jonathan Toubin has been commissioned to re-create the actual sound of prehistoric life - with a diversity of get-down hits from the cave - particularly Jimmy Castor’s caveman disco of Troglodyte, Luther the Anthropid, and Big Butt Bertha. Cavemen,… cavewomen,… volcanoes,… rock,… ‘n’roll, dancing - all of the best things about primitive life without having to surrender the cool comfort of your iPhone(TM)! Who says people who live in Glasslands shouldn’t throw stones?
Saturday, Apr 26: New York Night Train’s Loose Caboose, Rehab (ex-Club Midway, 25 Avenue B, East Village, Manhattan), 10pm, FREE:The night train’s gonna chugga chugga chugga to the city Saturday night. Come find the rockin’ caboose of the week of NYNT parties upstairs every week from here on out either with the Soul Proprietor or one of his hand-picked favorites continuing NYNT’s time-honored Midway freak show tradition! This week’s guest is noneother than the lovely and talented Ivan Sunshine of Love As Laughter, Ghost Exits and Vietnam. Mr. Sunshine has the jams and knows his shizzulah but his first objective is to make everybody go crazy. Pop by and dance to the man’s music.
Finally, look for the return of the new and improved SOUL CLAP and DANCE-OFF on SATURDAY MAY 3!
