Beauty Bar Thursday 60s Discotheque Internationale w/Special Guests Broken Hearts
New York Night Train Soul Proprietor Mr. Jonathan Toubin hits the Beauty Bar back room every Thursday and turns dance platters rotating around the middle of popular music’s greatest and most diverse decade, channeling the variety inherent in 60s discotheque and radio playlists plus many of the tunes that were either too underground or geographically removed at the time to find their way to the same spot - laying down soul, garage, freakbeat, boogaloo, AM radio pop, British Invasion, electric blues, girl groups, bubblegum, frat rock, late r&b, early funk, early psychedelics, discotheque schmaltz, boogaloos, tropicalia, yé-yé, latin delights, and anything else that moves.
This week the party features guest DJs Amber and Nisha AKA the Broken Hearts - all the way from London. Described by the Independent as “a Hollywood musical on hallucinogenics,†the dynamic duo, known for their eclectic taste, matching outfits, and choreographed routines, are commonly regarded one of the more unique and entertaining DJ experiences there is throughout the global subterrain. The duo have a just realeased their debut single for Mute and you may remember them from their big spread in Nylon a few months back.
