St Paddy’s at Daddy’s
Tuesday, Feb 17: A New York Night Train St. Patrick’s Day, Daddy’s (437 Graham Ave., Brooklyn), 10PM, FREE:Though New York Night Train conductor Mr. Jonathan Toubin will be at a non-Irish bar spinning all kinds of music that have nothing to do with anything Ireland or St Paddy’s day (maybe thin lizzy or them?), he and Daddy’s proprietress Laura Rogers are however making an effort to present something that resembles the holiday to their beloved publics out of a mix of obligation, commercial savvy, and the fact that they both need to get a life. Therefore, the two put our heads together and dreamed up the less-than-genius, but somewhat charming idea for a midnight “Olympics o’Limericks” – where anyone who wants in can read a limerick of their own composition and the winner gets 1st prize, A BOTTLE OF JAMESON, 2nd prize, A BOX OF LUCKY CHARMS, and 3rd prize, A PINT OF GUINNESS. pass this very important information on to your thirsty poet friends as we expect the competition to be fierce and the car bombs to be brutal. Finally, while Rogers and Toubin are ill-informed in regards to the Irish half of the St. Patrick’s irish drinking holiday equation, one thing the duo knows quite a bit about is the booze half, so you can count on a high degree of expertise and professionalism on their parts in this regard. They really can’t see how anyone could miss this unless they happened to be somewhere else!
