Soul proprietor Mr Jonathan Toubin fills the Beauty Bar’s sleek and sexy new joint floor to ceiling with bubbly 45rpm soul, pre-funk, and r&b classics, novelties, and obscurities to get you down all night long. The Manhattan party/hangout has seen guest DJs like Daptone proprietor/Sharon Jones bassist/bandleader, Gabriel Roth, Make-Up’s Ian Svenonius, Butthole Surfers’ Gibby Haynes, the legendary Phast Phreddie of the Subway Soul, Kid Congo Powers of the Cramps and Gun Club, Dale Crover of the Melvins, Calvin Johnson of Beat Happening, etc etc etc. So expect not only New York Night Train’s exceptional standard of quality, but also some very distinguished guests and patrons – like tonight, when we have an afterparty for Los Angeles’ Night Horse featuring DJ Sam Velde!



Thursday, August 6, Thursday Thump w/DJ Spencer Bewley, Enid’s (560 Manhattan Ave, Greenpoint), 10pm – 4am, FREE: New York Night Train and Enid’s present a night featuring the finest DJs of the NYC underground community every Thursday. This week we are proud to bring Spener Bewley up on top of the tower of power. For those of you who don’t know Spencer, not only is he known for his zany antics and infinite stream of one-liners and madcap English physical humor, but also as the projectionist for New York Night Train Happening, A Place to Bury Strangers, Warlocks, and Death In Vegas. But, most importantly for your purposes, like many of his fellow countrymen, music, unlike their cuisine, is NOT a joke – Spencer, who formerly manned the Pull My Soul Finger vessel downtown, has exquisite taste in music and isn’t afraid to let you know about it. And, if you’re lucky,… or even if you’re unlucky,… i betcha Mr. Bewley will climb on down to the floor and do a little dance with you. Hurry on over rover…
