No longer only one of NYC’s more popular monthly nightlife institutions, this powerhouse party has spread this year from coast to coast, around the globe – everywhere from Mexico City to Tel Aviv and back again. Tonight New York Night Train is thrilled to announce its first ever Soul Clap in the 1961 boardwalk bowling alley turned music mecca, Asbury Lanes (in the last year the venue has hosted everyone from the Butthole Surfers to the Mummies)! As always, the Soul Clap will feature ALL NIGHT DANCING to exquisitely wild 45 rpm magic of subterranean maximum rock and soul DJ MR JONATHAN TOUBIN as well as a MIDNIGHT DANCE-OFF for a $100 GRAND PRIZE. Tonight’s contest will feature a unique panel of judges consisting of:
- Katie Farhat Larkin: owner of of Asbury Park Dance and Yoga, dancer, choreographer, and pr genius
- Glen Burtnik: musician and songwriter extraordinaire, hair color enthusiast, producer & mastermind behind the “glen burtnik xmas xtravaganza”
- DJ Jack the Ripper: vinyl, performance, and poster artist… also a master of disguise, & the most mysterious member of the Asbury Lanes family..
- the lovely Kate Hiltz: goddess of the punk scene, master vegan chef, record producer, and patron to the arts..aka..Kate is Great
- DJ meatnmore: artist, musician, and dj to the fashion world, and to the Asbury Park elite…and one of the members of the elusive underground noise band, taint
