Mon, Mar 22: Monterrey, Mexico – TBA: Todd P presents special dance party w/Mr Jonathan Toubin

on Wednesday, in NYC…

JELLOWed, Mar 24: Lower East Side, Manhattan – Motor City Bar: New York Night Train Wednesday w/Mr. Jonathan Toubin and guest DJ Jello Biafra(!), 10pm – 4am, 21+, $3: A downtown institution for over three years, the “Cheers” of the Lower East Side’s rock and roll underground, New York Night Train Wednesday is where conductor Mr Jonathan Toubin tests out his latest jams before anyone else gets to hear them on the world’s dancefloors – plus he also turns occasional punk classics and other old favorites for you to either sing along with or criticize him for playing. Your other pals, Hari Kupian behind the bar and Marc Ryan at the door, are also working at this, Mr/ T’s only mellow hangout night. This week isn’t so mellow though because Senor JELLO BIAFRA himself is doing two DJ sets (JB’s in town with his new band Guantanamo School of Medicine - they play at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple the following night - go here for tickets!). This is far from some kind of celebrity gig. Jello, who spun the November Soul Clap in San Francisco, has more records than anybody you’ve ever met, some killer and very exquisite taste from many genres, and knows how to shake a room to boot. Also, when he’s not DJ-ing, Jello’s a friendly approachable gent who has plenty to discuss with you. Fall by and hang out.

and Thursday, NY Night Train brings you even more literary punk legends

THUMPericdThu, Mar 25: Greenpoint, Brooklyn – Enid’s: Thursday Thump w/DJ Eric Davidson and Aaron Lefkove, 10pm, 21+, FREE: Tonight we have representatives of one of the best punk bands of the 1990s and one of the best punk bands of the 2000, Eric Davidson of New Bomb Turks and Aaron Lefkove of Live Fast Die/Liquor Store. It should also be noted that these distinguished gentlemen of the musical medium happen to also be men of letters. Eric, the former editor of CMJ magazine, is also the author of the soon-to be released, We Never Learn: The Gunk Punk Undergut, 1988-2001 (rolling off the presses June 1) and Aaron a freelance journalist who is the brain and stomach behind Disgusting Things I Have Eaten. You know their taste in food but aren’t you the least bit curious about this dynamic duo’s musical taste?
