NYC “French” party pop band Les Sans Culottes play one of their revved-up Francophile live sets, performance artist/musician Anna Copacabana provides le go go dancing, and world-record contender Hula Hoop Harlot Melissa Anne puts in one of her vigorous but classy performances. Williamsburg’s legendary projection team Mighty Robot AV Squad conjure up the multimedia visuals. Get there early, doors open at 10PM and every week the band goes on at 10:30 sharp….

And now for a bit more about tonight’s cast:

lsc.jpgLive Band: Les Sans Culottes – “The giddy, light-headed charm of the 1960’s French rock known as ye-ye is concept enough for Les Sans Culottes, a Brooklyn band that revives the style…fuzz-toned guitars, electric organ, cooing female voices and know-it-all male growls. All Les Sans Culottes had to do is bring back the psychedelic-patterned clothes, come up with stage names like Kit Kat le Noir and add some extra Franglais to savor the music’s loony essence.” – Jon Pareles, The New York Times

acc.jpgGo Go Dancer: Anna Copacabana, whose Anna Copacabana Show at Bowery Poetry Club has become a downtown tradition, also performs regularly as a songwriting musician and dancer. Uniting the art, rock, and variety scenes with her work across the city, the lovely and talented Ms. Copacabana adds flair and kineticism to any party…

ma.jpgHula Hoop Performance: Hula Hoop Harlot Melissa Anne, initially a jazz/tap dancer, soon began incorporating her hula hooping skills into live performances until it soon became central to her well choreographed and entertaining live act. Much more than a series of artfully arranged dazzling athletic feats, the wild blur of Saturn’s rings orbiting Melissa’s body simply defy all conventional laws of physics.

robot.jpgProjections: Mighty Robot AV Squad incorporate homemade visuals, found filmstock, live video, and liquid projection to create an otherworldly yet playful ambience ideal for dancing. Yes, these are the artists of the same Mighty Robot space who also presented all of the great underground bands of the early 2000s. It’s all over the room – look around.

jaiko.jpgGuest DJ: Jaiko Suzuki, who initially earned her legendary New York nightlife reputation go go dancing at practically every important New York party in the late 1990s and early 2000s (most notably Vampiros Lesbos), and later created, curated, and DJ-ed one of NYC’s coolest 21st century parties, the monthly Mon Mon Mon Amour institution at La Caverna, is also a prolific drummer (Boredoms 77 Drum, Electroputas, etc), experimental film-maker, and professional mermaid whose best known for rocking awesome international pop sets.

jt.jpgHouse DJ: Mr. Jonathan Toubin, New York Night Train’s Conductor, the city’s hardest-working subcultural rock’n’soul DJ has already spun over 150 coast-to-coast gigs this year with dynamic primarily 45-rpm all-vinyl sets emphasizing soul, garage, freakbeat, New Orleans beat, early rock, boogaloo, punk, and, yeah,… ye ye!

tim.jpgGuest DJ: Tim Warren, founder of the international institution known as Crypt Records (who brought you the likes of the Gories, Oblivians, Thee Headcoats, John Spencer Blues Explosion, and many more and also assembled such legendary compilation series such as Las Vegas Grind, Back From the Grave, The Socker, and Twist and Rumble), and owner of Williamsburg’s Cool and Crazy Record Store, is also an unreal selector who plays boatloads of raw shakers from one of the most notorious record collections ever.
