LL
Cool J – Wingate Field (Winthrop St btwn Brooklyn and Kingston
Aves) 7:30PM FREE
OK, there’s
a new Roky Erickson doc debuting tonight at Lincoln Center’s
Walter Reade Theater’s Play It Loud Festival and I have another
chance to talk about amazing veteran instrumental purveyors The
Flying
Luttenbachers, who tonight play at Cake Shop, later
this week. And it would be hard to go wrong with Manu
Chao or Gary
Newman except for the stiff ticket prices. But tonight
belongs to a local legend of epic proportions.
The 24th
annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series has been throwing
down the freebies every Monday since July and tonight brings you
LL
Cool J himself. Of course Cool James doesn’t
needed any kind of introduction - even to folks who don’t
really care about hip-hop. So, whoever you are, I know you can imagine
how its gotta feel when he rocks the bells at sunset for an enormous
adoring hometown crowd on a warm summer night... A true New York
experience that can’t be bought or sold.
