The latest indie guitar hero is… definitely Marnie Stern, who I caught in action a few weeks ago - shredding on stage all over backing tracks. This recording testifies that she’s more than just a guitar wonder but also a unique vocalist and songwriter as well. I still haven’t picked up In Advance of the Broken Arm - but it promises to be a Duchampian shovel of a record.
