Fiery Furnaces tonight at Studio B with dios (malos) (details here)

Where’ve the omnipresent Fiery Furnaces been? On the road non-stop and pushing out records at the rate of about one every six months for about three years, the Friedburger sibling took a much deserved break for the first time in ions, recorded a new album, and inked a deal with Thrill Jockey. And, the good news is that they’re back in the saddle tonight at Studio B.

While its always impossible to know what to expect from such a creatively restless unit, a little bird outside my window found them in top form in Chicago last week – Eleanor tackling serious verbal acrobatics up front, Matt sticking behind the keyboards, Jason Lowenstein playing heroicly wacked-out guitar, and drummer Bob D’Amico and new percussionist Michael Goodman on the crazy rhythms.
