Thursday, Beauty Bar (231 E 14th St, New York, NY 10003), 11PM, FREE: Beauty Bar New York and Three Olives Vodka present the new Boogaloo Shampoo – the party where downtown’s hardest-working DJ (over 300 gigs in 2008), New York Night Train Soul Proprietor Mr. Jonathan Toubin, fills the mod-ish newly-redecorated back room dancefloor to ceiling with bubbly 45rpm soul classics, novelties, and obscurities – spanning late-r&b to early funk but centering on mid-60s burners every Thursday. Boogaloo Shampoo is thrilled to announce Mr. Toubin’s guest DJ at the new February 12 launch party will be none other than Gabriel Roth, co-owner and operator of Dap-Tone Records and bassist/bandleader of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.
