PHOTOS: SOUL CLAP & DANCE-OFF 6TH ANNIVERSARY EXTRAVAGANZA w/JT, IAN SVENONIUS, DELUXE SALON, CHAMPIONSHIP, AND MORE!

Vice Magazine‘s Nicholas Gazin took these amazing shots of New York Night Train’s SOUL CLAP & DANCE-OFF 6TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Brooklyn Bowl. JONATHAN TOUBIN turned his all-time favorite soul clap classics all night long. At 1AM the Metropolis Vintage/Panache Booking DANCE-OFF was judged by Williamsburg’s DELUXE SALON. The contest songs were selected by The Doors’ Jim Morrison – contacted via live seance on stage by Chain And The Gang/The Make-Up leader Ian Svenonius. Svenonius first communicated with Morrison while researching his recent how-to book “Supernatural Strategies for Making a Rock’n’Roll Group” and the two vocalists are now tight. Morrison selected The Door’s “Peace Frog” and then moved on to soul songs once Svenonius suggested he pick other peoples’ songs as well. The contest was followed by the Annual The Brooklyn Brewery $500 Championship round – which came down to a Dance-Off between previous Glasslands champions Erin Sheehy and Sarah King – proving that there may just be something to NY Night Train’s Soul Clap science. Sheehy is going to the national Dance-Off Championship in January 2014!
