NYC’s biggest & best underground Halloween party tradition occurs annually since 2006! What started out as Jonathan Toubin’s Halloween record hop has evolved into an action-packed music festival featuring multi-room nonstop live acts (31 bands!), dancing (8 DJs!), horror cinema, performance, installations, visuals, food, drink, and the annual $500 costume contest! Hour after hour of action-packed fun in a massive haunted house across a labyrinth of spooky party environments! Free shuttle back and forth from the Jefferson L Train stop all night long!
This year’s spooktacular is sprawled out across a number of spaces. The headline bands play full original sets in the PHANTASMAGORICAL BALLROOM concluding, as always, with monster mashing to the exquisite haunted vinyl of JONATHAN TOUBIN accompanied by his MUMMIES A GO GO, and the 1AM $500 COSTUME CONTEST determined by a distinguished panel of judges! While 14 of NYC’s favorite underground rock’n’roll bands once again cover their favorite artists in the ROOM FULL OF MIRRORS, this year the festival has added an ELECTRIC FUNERAL PARLOR stage where revelers can experience BLACK SABBATH all night long – with a strong lineup of 11 of NYC’s finest interpreting their favorite tracks by BLACK SABBATH and family! While 1977 CBGB punk legend HOWIE PYRO tragically passed away this year, his annual dance party room lives on – occupied by a stellar lineup of his friends, fans, and co-conspirators – who are all among the east coast’s finest horror specialty vinyl DJs. Trick or treaters can take a break from the relentless music and dancing by cooling out in B.A. MIALE’s PSYCHEDELIC GRAVEYARD installation, chilling in the outdoor food area, and taking in the original horror, slasher, and monster reels curated and projected by o.g. NYC subterranean film god GARY BALABAN in his annual HORROR CINEMA. As always, partygoers choose their own adventure and the variety of simultaneously occurring activities ensure that no two party-goers have the same experience.
