Lineup for 5th Annual NY Night Train SXSW Hoodang Announced – 45 bands from all over

While Mr Jonathan Toubin is busy with a slew of DJ gigs at SXSW and then two nights at Todd P’s MtyMx festival in Monterrey the 20th and 21st, the big New York Night Train event in Austin weekend will be the 5th Annual New York Night Train SXSW Hoodang at Spider House – featuring 45 amazing bands from all over the world on a 4 stages from Noon to 2am. This event is co-presented by comrade in arms Panache Booking with a little help from NYC amigos Cake Shop and Sacred Bones Records. The indoor stage was co-curated by Jason McNeely of Spiderhouse.

We’ve deliberately selected this relaxed oasis of courtyard tables, food, and drink as an alternative to the less comfortable downtown music events. However, right near the University of Texas, this popular institution is easy to reach by a variety of city buses that run up and down Guadalupe (The Drag) every few minutes taking you downtown and back (roughly a 10 min ride). Ask anybody – last year’s jam, headlined by The Seeds’ Sky Saxon (R.I.P.), was the unofficial SXSW jam of the year. This one’s even bigger and better. Don’t miss it!

CHRISTMAS – NEW YORK NIGHT TRAIN STYLE

recordrelease3WEDS, DEC 23: Record Relase at New York Night Train Wednesdays. Motor City Bar (127 Ludlow), 10PM – 4AM, FREE: NYC, Motor City: In honor of the holiday season New York Night Train has a present for you – we have be giving away each and every record we play for free Wednesdays leading up to Christmas between 10pm and 2am. The “Record Release,” a concept developed by Mr. Eric Z of the Mighty Robot and Wolfy of Red Dawn II years ago and revived by New York Night Train a number of times over the last couple of years, is where the records are given away to party-goers immediately after play. This a great excuse for Toubin, who doesn’t sell records, to get rid of doubles and other extras, and for you to pick up lots of amazing 45s and LPs, from standard and worn to valuable, from the 1950s to 2009 – primarily drawing from the 1960s rock and soul canon – but also lots of punk, post-punk, blues, country, and other genres – but all good enough to be included in a New York Night Train DJ set (which this is an exceptional form of). Get there early and stay all night to fill in yr belly, yr ears, and yr record collection! This is the final installment of this weekly December series.
